House signs

Hi!

It can be quite daunting ordering a house sign. It’s a big decision to have one as its going to be seen every time you pass it or more importantly visitors pass it.

People often don’t realise how many questions I need to ask…… please don’t be put off.

I have a contact form which asks all the main questions for a sign, I will then design it and then send a proof for you to check.

The designs are not set in stone (sorry) so if its needs changing a lot or just a tweak let me know.

It’s worth while spending some time on this bit to get it ‘just right’.

Posting is not a problem, I use Royal Mail and a variety of couriers, the slate is well wrapped and I've not had one break yet!!

Once the design is confirmed I print out a 1:1 scale template which i cut out by hand.

This is placed over the stone and I etch the design on through the template.

The design is then engraved by hand, no lasers or computer controlled cutters etc.

I then hand paint the words and or numbers using a gloss enamel, usually 3 coats.

The slate is usually regular in shape and can be light to dark grey in colour. This can be cut to a any required size.

The dark slate comes in different sizes: -

21cm x 29cm (approx. A4),

25cm x 50cm

30cm x 40cm.

Circles 30cm in Diameter

Hexagonal 30cm across

Hearts usually 25cm across.

I can of course cut to size and almost any shape.

The light slate generally is 20cm deep an approx. 20mm thick x whatever length is needed!

I also may have some other slate in stock.

My stock does change so its always worth asking if these sizes are not what you are looking for...….
